About Platinum

Platinum is a precious metal which is rarer than gold. All the platinum ever mined would be the size of 3 double-decker buses or it would fill an Olympic size swimming pool to a depth of your ankles. It is a very dense metal, making it 40% to 60% heavier than gold. Platinum is one of the most stable metals and hence it requires no cleaning and it never tarnishes.

Proven store of wealth: Platinum maintains its value in the long term, historically it trades at a premium to gold and is a hedge against currency risk and inflation.

Limited source of supply: Platinum is rarer than gold and silver. Only 180 tonnes of platinum is mined annually, compared to 3,165 tonnes of gold. In addition to platinum being in limited supply, it requires 1tonne of ore to get 2.5 gm of platinum.

Multiple industrial applications: Platinum is vital and irreplaceable in many high-volume industrial applications including, automotive and fibreglass manufacturing and oil refining.

Platinum is recognised as the precious metal jewellery of choice with much of the jewellery contained within the Crown Jewells of the United Kingdom, Russia and Japan being set in platinum.

Platinum is 25 times rarer than gold and is one of the heaviest metals. A six-inch cube of platinum weighs as much as the average human being.
